MARRIAGES

The Registry registers the following marriages:

• any marriage solemnised or contracted within Brunei Darussalam, other than a marriage where either party to the marriage professes the Islamic or Christian religion at the time of the marriage; and
• any marriage solemnised or contracted outside Brunei Darussalam, other than a marriage where both parties profess the Islamic religion at the time of the marriage.

Any marriage solemnised or contracted within Brunei Darussalam must be registered within 3 months of the ceremony.

For registrations submitted after this period, applicants are required to write to the Registrar-General of Marriages explaining the reasons for the delay.

Registration process:

• Submit the completed Marriage Registration Form together with the required supporting documents via email to rom@agc.gov.bn.
• Upon receipt of a complete application and successful verification of the documents, an appointment date will be arranged for the registration proceeding. Both parties are required to bring the original supporting documents during the registration proceeding for verification purposes.
• The Marriage Certificate will be issued immediately upon completion of the registration interview.

A fee of BND15.00 applies for the registration of marriage.

The counter to receive payment will be open on the following days and time, and will be closed on Friday, Sunday and public holidays.
